Champ Fond power feeders do what every feeder does: hold the stock down, pull it through at a constant rate, and let the cutterhead do clean work. All of that depends on the tires. Polyurethane hardens with age and heat, glazes over from slipping against the same board, and wears out of round long before the drive train shows any sign of trouble. The symptoms turn up in the cut — chatter, snipe, feed marks, a board that wanders off the fence — and they get blamed on the knives far more often than on the rollers.
