The Super Drive system

Designed for the demanding requirements of moulders, planers, rip systems, and other material-feeding machinery, Super Drive Tires deliver superior traction, consistent feeding performance, and extended service life. Originally developed for the woodworking industry, the Super Drive system is also widely utilized by machinery manufacturers, engineers, and maintenance professionals to create reliable custom machine designs and material-handling solutions.

Super Drive is for moulders and planers. The equivalent system for power feeders is Super Feed — the names are similar and the parts are not interchangeable.

What Super Drive changes

Super Drive Tires help improve production quality and reduce operating costs by:

  • Reducing trim loss caused by excessive end splitting
  • Eliminating raised grain and feed-related surface defects
  • Reducing roller split marks and burn marks

Traction against wear life

Our Super Drive tires are available in a range of high- and low-coefficient-of-friction formulations, allowing you to balance traction, durability, and tire life for your specific application. A higher coefficient of friction provides greater grip and feeding traction, while a lower coefficient of friction allows for longer wear life and increased durability.

The relationship between traction and durability is important to understand. In general, higher-traction compounds provide more grip but wear more quickly, while lower-traction compounds offer greater durability and extended service life. The hardness is the color, so you can read a tire on the machine at a glance.

70 duro Yellow tires provide the highest level of traction and are typically reserved for specialized moulding applications where maximum feeding performance is required. While offering exceptional grip, they generally have a shorter wear life than harder durometers. When utilizing 70 duro tires, reducing beam feed pressure (PSI) is highly recommended to minimize tire wear, maximize service life, and maintain optimal feeding performance.

85 duro Orange tires are the preferred choice for most applications and represent the ideal balance of traction, durability, and overall value. With excellent grip characteristics and outstanding wear resistance, 85 duro is the sweet spot for moulders, planers, and rip systems, making it our most versatile and widely used formulation.

95 duro Red tires provide lower traction but deliver maximum durability and tire life. They are commonly used in push-through moulders and other applications where extended wear resistance is the primary objective.

Choosing a hardness

  • Choose 95 duro when maximum durability and extended tire life are more important than peak traction, particularly in push-through moulders and other high-wear applications.
  • Choose 85 duro for the vast majority of applications. It provides the best combination of grip, durability, wear resistance, and overall value, making it the preferred choice for moulders, planers, and rip systems.
  • Choose 70 duro when maximum traction is required for specialized moulding applications and feeding performance is the highest priority. Reduced beam feed pressure is strongly recommended to maximize tire life.
